Super-Fun Q&A with Writer/Director Jeff Burns

Favorite movies/TV shows of all time?

Star Wars! Original trilogy are the best movies ever made. Also Braveheart, The Terminator, The Princess Bride, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Next Generation, Chuck, 24, and Buffy just to name a few.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Spidey-Sense! That way I would know when danger was lurking. Not that there are like ninja coming after me or anything. Actually, when I was a kid I always wanted Spider-Man’s powers. I thought they were the coolest. And I still do :)

Who’s your favorite superhero?

Spider-Man. Also Huntress, Batman, Sara Pezzini (Witchblade), Rogue, Psylocke, and Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat). Okay, I’ll stop now.

Who’s your favorite super-villain?

Dr. Doom. Also Mr. Sinister (wish he was used more), and Catwoman.

Favorite superhero movie?

The Dark Knight. Christopher Nolan is the man!

What’s your favorite dance move (or dance move you wish you could do)?

Cabbage Patch. I do it very badly in Dance Central :)

What’s your favorite scene so far in Super Knocked Up?

Wow, that’s a tough question, because my cast and crew have done such a phenomenal job on all of them. Without giving too much away, I’d say the scenes where Jessica (Darkstar) and Michael (Captain Amazing) share real moments together and you can see the connection between them have been my favorites. It’s awesome seeing Natalie and Mark act together in those scenes.

Any funny moments on set you’d like to share?

Yeah, when Mark’s pants fell down during a take. Okay, that actually didn’t happen. Well, on more than one occasion, certain members of the cast and crew (who will remain nameless) have fallen asleep during a take and we could hear them snoring while the take was going on :)

What movie or show would you love to star in or have made (besides SKU of course)?

Equilibrium. That’s such an amazing movie, and I don’t think most people even know about it. An intelligent sci-fi movie with some of the most amazing fight scenes (gun kata!) you’ll ever see. I totally wish I had made that movie.

If a super-villain came up to you on the street, what would you do?

Run away! Or ask him/her if I could have some of the money they just stole to fund my web series :)

Favorite cartoon from when you were a kid?

Scooby-Doo! It’s still my favorite. And I really want some Scooby Snacks.

Best Saved by the Bell character?

Tie between Zack and Screech. You can’t not like Zack Morris, and Screech was just hilarious.

Who does the best E.T. impersonation on set?

Nat! It’s so good, Spielberg should hire her right now for the sequel.

Cookies and Milk or Pizza and Soda?

Cookies and Milk!!! Give me some chocolate chip cookies and a gallon of milk, and I’m set for breakfast, lunch, and dinner :)

If you were the star of a reality show, what would it be called?

Nerds Like Us.

What actor/actress would you love to guest star in Super Knocked Up?

Emily Blunt. Because she’s amazingly talented and super-cute! Oh, and Felicia Day for the same reasons and she’s a fellow geek who has a hugely popular web series – The Guild. Watch it!

Which SKU cast/crew member would be most likely to dress up as a superhero outside of the set?

Um, me.

Best saying on the SKU set and who says it?

Nerd Alert! Said by Natalie every time I talk about something geeky :)
