SKU Is An Official Selection Of LAweb Fest!

Awesome news!!! Super Knocked Up is an Official Selection of the 2013 LA Webfest! So excited to be chosen among all the other awesome nominees :) You can see us and the full list at the article below!

“VAMPIRES AND ZOMBIES DEVOUR THE COMPETITON IN ROUND 2 OF LAWEBFEST 2013 ENTRIES”

December 25, 2012, Los Angeles—LAWEBFEST revealed its second round of entries on Tuesday and web comedies and dramas in the science fiction-fantasy-horror genre dominated the new class. Of the 40 new shows to make the cut, nearly half fell in that category. “I think it’s just a sign of the times,” said LAWEBFEST founder and executive director Michael Ajakwe Jr. “The most popular films and tv shows like ‘Hunger Games’, the ‘Twilight’ movies, ‘True Blood’ and ‘The Walking Dead’ are thriving in this area, so it should be no surprise that web series makers from around the country and the world are following suit.”
-
California once again led the second LAWEBFEST Class of 2013 with 18 entries, four web series hailed from the state of New York, three from Canada; while Illinois and Missouri; London, England and Sydney, Australia each had two shows make the latest cut. In all, eight states and seven countries make up the second LAWEBFEST Class of 2013.
-
“Every show doesn’t have to be ‘The Godfather’, ‘The Matrix’ or ‘City of God’ to make it into the festival,” Ajakwe said, explaining his selection process. “I mean, when you think about it, most Broadway shows, tv shows and feature films are not great yet they still exist and are given a chance to be seen. So why should a web series have to adhere to a higher standard than other members of its family?” the Emmy-winning producer pointed out. “Granted, we’re not trying to let in shows we think are poorly done, but every entry does not have to be on the same level since every web series maker is not on the same level. Plus, sometimes, the viewing audience doesn’t want ‘great’ or ‘deep’, sometimes they just want to be entertained or have fun. So at LAWEBFEST we pick a garden variety of shows that provide some sort of entertainment value to our audience. We encourage writers and producers to actually attend the festival so they can see what others are doing and network with and borrow/learn from others who are here in order to improve your craft because one advantage serialized content always has in its favor is that it can get better and even become great over time. The tv comedy classic ‘Seinfeld’ is probably the best example of that,” he added.
-
LAWEBFEEST 2013 will be held March 28-31 at the Radisson LAX Hotel. “The entire event takes place at the Radisson,” Ajakwe said. “So once you’re in the hotel, you don’t have to leave for anything for four days, which was always my original vision for an event like this—24/7 community.”
-
LAWEBFEST entries and attendees receive a special room rate of just $89 per night if they stay at the hotel (You can book your room at this special link– http://www.radisson.com/lawebseries ). Submissions to the world’s oldest and largest all-web series festival are being accepted until February 8, 2013 ONLY AT www.lawebfest.com. The third Class of LAWEBFEST 2013 will be announced New Year’s Day.

On Tuesday, Dec. 11th, “Super Knocked Up” was screened at Big Screen Little Screen in NYC. For those that have never heard of it, Big Screen Little Screen is a showcase that celebrates web video and web video content producers/creators. Content creators are able to screen their work, and then have discuss with the audience the ins and outs of their production… the film making process, the talent behind it, promotional aspects, etc. It is a big honor to be chosen to attend as a creator and screen your work, so I’d like to congratulate Jeff for being chosen to participate in the event.

Here’s what Jeff had to say about the experience on Facebook.

“Screened my Super Knocked Up – Web Series at Big Screen Little Screen in NYC tonight! Wow! What an incredible experience! The place was packed and I got an amazing response to the screening. And then afterwards all these people kept coming up wanting to talk to me. I felt like a rock star! I’m not but maybe I’m a geek star :) It’s this kind of stuff that makes all the incredible hard work pay off for me and my whole cast and crew. Oh and I also get to do things like take pictures with beautiful actresses :) It’s rough man! Thanks so much to Paul Kontonis, the other amazing web series creators, and everyone who attended! Woohoo!”
